Events etc.
Over the next few months I’ll be doing a few different events, so here’s a post about the ones you can buy tickets for.
On September 16th I’ll be at the stunning Chorlton Library for the Chorlton Book Festival, when I’ll be speaking about Broken Biscuits and Other Male Failures with the author Steve Kedie followed by a Q&A. The folks from Blackwell’s will be on hand to sell you our books. This will likely be the last of my Broken Biscuits events until the paperback tour next year, so do come along. It’s pay what you feel. Tickets here.
On October 18th I’ll be appearing on a live recording of the The Bee Magazine’s excellent The Working Class Library podcast at Ilkley Literature Festival, where Claire Malcolm, Richard Benson and I will be discussing Alan Bennett’s family memoir Untold Stories. Also pay what you feel. Tickets here.
On November 20th I’ll be one of the speakers at Harrogate International Festival’s Berwin Salon North held in The Crown Hotel, Harrogate. Over the space of 25 minutes I’m going to be talking about the unifying power of embarrassing stories, recreating a mortifying incident from my teens and playing a game of ‘Would You Rather?’ involving a Cringe-o-meter. The Salon was voted number six in the ‘Top 100 Things to do in the World’ by GQ magazine, which is quite the endorsement. Tickets here.
Then, from the 2nd to the 7th of February, I’ll be teaching a week long residential Arvon course in narrative nonfiction, Finding Your Story, at the beautiful Lumb Bank alongside the brilliant Miranda France. We’ll be joined midweek by our guest tutor, the award-winning memoirist Catherine Taylor. Full details here.
So, do come to all of that. Thank you. There will be a proper monthly post on September 1st.
